Drugs Shown to Inhibit SARS-CoV-2 in COVID-19 Disease: Comparative Basic and Clinical Pharmacology of Molnupiravir and Ivermectin

The pharmacology of anti-SARS-CoV-2 drugs, Molnupiravir (M) and repurposed Ivermectin (IV) were compared. IC50 for the inhibition viral replication 0.3μM M 2.8μM IV. Both drugs have good oral absorption, with achieving peak plasma concentrations by 2 hours IV 5 hours. half life 7 81-91 inhibits inducing mutagenesis in RdRp, causing error catastrophe extinction. affects cell entry, nuclear transport via RdRp. has additional effect to suppress cytokine production through STAT-3 inhibition. is a more potent antiviral drug longer residence body. Their effects on RdRp are potentially complimentary anti-COVID-19 activity. should be compared randomized controlled clinical trials, possibility their combination actions, explored further.
